When Is the Best Time to Pressure Wash Your Home in Oregon?

If you’re a homeowner in Salem, Portland, or anywhere in the Willamette Valley, you’ve probably noticed how quickly moss, mildew, and grime can build up on your siding, driveway, and deck. Thanks to Oregon’s rainy climate and dense tree coverage, our homes are uniquely exposed to the elements — and pressure washing is one of the easiest ways to protect them.

But when is the best time to schedule a pressure wash? Let’s break it down.

🌼 Spring: The Most Popular Time to Wash

March to May is the most popular season for pressure washing in Oregon. Here’s why:

  • Winter moss and grime have had time to build up.
  • Spring rains rinse away pollen and debris post-cleaning.
  • Prepping for summer gatherings or home sales.

At Earthwise Wash Co., we always recommend spring cleanings for homes under trees or with north-facing siding where algae thrive.

☀️ Summer: Great for Driveways, Patios, and Decks

June to August is perfect for power washing flat surfaces like:

  • Concrete driveways
  • Wooden decks and patios
  • Outdoor furniture
  • Fencing

The warm weather helps everything dry quickly, making it an ideal time for sealing or staining right after washing.

🍁 Fall: Get Ahead of Winter Mold

September to early November is the second-best time to wash — especially important if you skipped spring.

  • Clears away fallen leaves and mold-harboring debris
  • Prepares your home for wetter months
  • Prevents moisture buildup in wood and siding

Bonus: Washing gutters and exterior walls in fall can help prevent clogged drainage and foundation problems during heavy rains.

❄️ Winter: Not Ideal, but Not Impossible

We don’t usually recommend full house washes in December to February, but it may still make sense to:

  • Spot clean slippery walkways
  • Remove algae from north-facing patios
  • Handle emergency cleaning needs

If you’re booking in winter, just make sure we’re above freezing and there’s no ongoing storm risk.

🧽 How Often Should You Pressure Wash in Oregon?

House siding: Every 12–18 months
Driveways: Every 12 months or when visibly dirty
Decks & patios: Annually or before refinishing
Roof (soft wash only): Every 2–3 years or as needed
